Selling Point

February 17, 2010

When I studied an holistic nutrition programme, one of my teachers warned the class, “A craving for sugar often betrays a perceived lack of sweetness in one’s life.” In other words, we reach for candy in place of contentment, and chocolate bars in the absence of affection.

Today, I have an appetite for a sturdy pair of arms around my waist, a hand placed in mine, a rib-cracking hug. In the meantime, since no such things seem forthcoming, I’ve eaten the chocolate in the photo, above, and love it so much I think I just might marry it.
